Qualifications

Education and Experience: Education equivalent to graduation from a standard high school and experience equivalent to three years of storekeeping work.

Substitution of Experience for Education: Qualifying experience in storekeeping may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.

Necessary Special Qualifications: A valid motor vehicle operator's license may be required for employment in some positions.

Overview

Under general supervision, is responsible for storekeeping work of average difficulty. An incumbent in this classification is responsible for the receipt, storage, inventory, and distribution of commodities at a moderate-sized storehouse, section of a large storehouse, or may act as assistant to a storekeeper of a higher level. Positions in this classification typically have some responsibility for directing the work of a small group of clerical or laboring employees. This class differs from that of Stores Clerk in that an incumbent of the latter has lesser responsibility and usually takes direction from a Storekeeper 1. This class differs from that of a Storekeeper 2 in that an incumbent of the latter has charge of larger storehouses with greater variety and valued items and usually supervises Storekeepe

Responsibilities

  1. Reviews pick plans and delivery documents to identify products, quantities, and locations for orders placed. Maintains daily activity logs on all orders pulled and backed.
  2. Ensures the accuracy of warehouse stock by inspecting incoming equipment and product to document any damage, monitoring stored product and expiration dates, comparing purchase records, and participating in physical inventory counts. Generates inventory related reports as required.
  3. Operates various equipment to assist in moving and transporting inventory and orders throughout the warehouse. Operates motor vehicles to distribute deliverable customer orders.
  4. Performs safety checks on applicable vehicles (e.g., forklifts, delivery vehicles).
  5. Communicates with staff to ensure delivery processes are carried out smoothly. Communicates errors in shipping/receiving to supervisors and vendors to ensure accuracy of orders and confirm delivery.
  6. Provides excellent customer service and collects information regarding customer complaints or delivery issues to resolve problems.
